Finding Space4 has been a gamechanger for me and my community and I cannot express how thankful I am to be a member! I remember being told about the organisation in passing by a member of our community group who attended one of their socials. They said they felt super welcomed and the vibe was really nice but they lived too far. When I googled and saw it was really close to my home, it felt too good to be true.

I had recently turned 30 meaning I could no longer access Roundhouse Works – the young people co-working space I had been using to build up my community organisation. Something happens when you turn 30 – the world expects you to suddenly have it all together, and all the support and resources you had available to you disappear before you know it.

As a neurodivergent entrepreneur, my journey has not been linear and it has taken me a bit longer to find my feet. Finding Space4 came at the perfect time, right in the middle of my offboarding process. My first visit felt like a home away from home. The plants, the friendly smiles and the energy made me feel like a real Entrepreneur!

I have since met some amazing friends who have encouraged me in my motivation and consistency (which I also struggle with), and we have benefited from using the space as a social space for Black Women and Non-binary folk with ADHD. Most recently we hosted our knitting socials; Space4 kindly allow us to book the space for free within our discounted membership fee meaning we could purchase starter kits for attendees and pay the volunteers for their travel and time.

As a 100% disabled led community organisation, having access to Space4 with their concession options has made expanding as an organisation so much easier! Not only do we have a correspondence address, we now have a real base that members can utilise as a third space that centres community and accessibility.

Also a side note, because it is just far enough from my house, it encourages me to  get out of bed, walk AND get into nature before hyperfocusing throughout the day. It is so easy to get stuck in the process of working from home; having such a safe option has helped me strike a healthier balance which is essential for someone like me who struggles with anxiety and depression alongside my neurodivergence.

Overall, finding Space4 has been a Godsend and really helped me feel confident in myself as an entrepreneur and business owner. It feels real being surrounded by other business owners and founders. It reminds me this is possible and I will be okay!
