SPACE4 Filled Steffi’s Freelance Calendar

I’m a freelancer, so it’s crucial that I find genuinely meaningful opportunities to meet and collaborate with others. I first went to SPACE4 to go to the structured networking event. I was surprised that we all sat around a table together, rather than most networking events where they throw you in a room with some sad snacks and hope for the best…

But this was different. I was made to feel really welcome, and the format was explained clearly. Everybody was genuinely keen to listen and support each other. It’s such an encouraging environment, and is the perfect blend of relaxed and structured so there’s no time wasted (the time-keeping is to the second!) but it’s not dull or overly formal at all. After that first session I booked a job, and met several other people for more in-depth catch ups.

I’ve been going for six months now, and I can’t overstate how important SPACE4 has been for my work this year. Building connections with everybody there has routinely led to contracted work, and now my books are full well into next year. Praise be!

Plus, I’ve met some truly rad people who work on projects that make me feel genuinely hopeful for the future – which is no small thing!
