On Thursday 23 November we hosted a lovely lunch and launch of SPACE4’s new and improved space with Islington Council.

We celebrated…

  • Our new entrance which has video intercom, sheltered bike storage, and is wheelchair accessible;
  • In fact, we’re delighted to say that our entire workspace is now fully wheelchair accessible thanks to the work done on the lift and bathroom;
  • And we love our beautiful lobby room designed by Studio Weave and Mitre and Mondays (who used a local wood supplier on the project!). We’re so pleased that we can now use the events space, lobby room, and kitchen all independently. This has had a huge impact on how we use the space.

More generally it was a celebration of all of SPACE4’s achievements so far and we enjoyed inspiring short speeches from:

  1. Joyce Ogunade, Head of Affordable Workspace
  2. Councillor Bell-Bradford, Elected Member for Community Wealth Building Islington Council
  3. Maddy Neghabian, Space Manager for Outlandish/SPACE4
  4. James Rogers, Studio Weave
  5. William Thompson, Founder of Plinth (formerly known as Time To Spare)
  6. Natasha Natarajan, Events Coordinator from Outlandish/SPACE4
  7. Polly Robbins, Space Manager from Outlandish/SPACE4

To end, we had a lovely Mediterranean community lunch from Gadz, just round the corner from us. Many of our members joined us for the festivities.
